Funny…..but true
The following is a brief and light hearted reflection on some of the “Blooper” examples we see on a daily basis in our industry which we thought we should share.
It’s amazing how little “typos” and/or omissions can impact the intended message……spot the bloopers & mistakes in these recent offerings.
- Personal Statement on a resume: “I am a conscious, reliable and honest person with the ability to learn”.
- A recent recruitment advertisement included in its summary: “Above all else, the successful candidate will have proven ability to create and maintain harmonious relationships with the pubic”.
- Under work history on a resume: “ 1998-2002 Employed by the Department of conversation”.
- Another advert quote: “The package being offered will not reflect the importance the company places on this important appointment”.
- Personal resume statement: “If you are after the best don’t pick me, I consider myself more of an average and steady type”.
- Interview statement by a candidate “I know my own strengths and weaknesses”…Interviewer …”what are your weaknesses then?” candidate …….long pause “I can’t really think of any of them at the moment”.
- Candidate for a senior executive role: “I have not put a resume together for over 20 years; everyone knows how good I am and besides my details are too personal to put in any resume!”
- When a candidate was asked to how he would describe his leadership style he responded: “ In a word, Monogamous”
- Reason offered for candidate’s decision to leave a role: “I am not a conformist and they knew it when they took me on, rules are there to be broken and I pride myself on being very good at it…breaking rules that is and for some reason they just couldn’t get it”.
- Another personal statement (from a female candidate): “If you are looking for a safe bet then I’m all yours”.
These are just a few recent gems which caused us to have a chuckle, I am sure next week will bring us more to enjoy.
